I am heading up to London for a couple of mid week days in the not too distant future - what is there to divert a mining minded chap in Central London

On my last visit I went to the Science museum and the Geological bit of the Natural History Museum.

Unfortunately Kew bridge will be shut.

Went to the IWM last time as well! Belfast sounds good - I haven't been there since I was a kid

Get a Day Rover Ticket on the tube - if they still do them. No need to come to grass for the entire day. Don't forget the sarnies! 😉

I was going to suggest Bottley's but I don't think they are in London now, their place in London was a bit of a time warp.

I'll second the Greenwich Foot Tunnel. A wonderful bit of underground engineering.

If you after some Victorian power, there is the Tower Bridge engine room, although not running on steam. It is a bit pricey though and includes walking up over the top walkway as well.

Explore Kensington Gardens Park and find the statue of Cecil Rhodes, founder of De Beers Diamond Mining and indeed the founder of Rhodesia. A great Briton, a man of the Empire and certainly mining-related.

I am now standing and humming the National Anthem. :smartass: 🙂

A Day Travelcard zones 1-6 will do the job nicely.

about the post office railway, have heard rumours they are reopening it for tourists but I'd imagine not at moment. You could always take a wonder around the underground, I think they do tours at Aldwych station sometimes.

Tube Challenge
The Tube Challenge is the accepted name for the Guinness World Record attempt to visit all the stations on the London Underground network in the fastest time possible.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tube_Challenge  😮

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
