I think I have this worked out
Fuel is a naturally occurring substance which is consumed to produce energy
Energy is the power obtained from the consumption of fuel or the capacity to perform work
Electricity is a form of energy derived from consuming fuel and when it is stored such as in the batteries of an electric car it is in the form of potential energy.
Does this sound OK?

Now that's the kind of logic I can get on with.

If I were a pedant, I would observe that electrical energy stored in batteries is actually chemical energy.

Unless it was stored in an ultra capacitor, but would we call that a battery, I guess some folks will at some point in the future.

A capacitor stores energy in an electric field, a battery stores energy chemically.

Yes I am fully aware of that but if ultra capacitors ever replace chemical batteries then as said some folks will know doubt call them batteries just like some folks call electricity fuel.

I am enjoying following this actually.

Yes Mr Lozz. there is a point to make in that the English language is constantly changing with new words and expressions coming into use and the meaning of existing words changing. (an obvious example is "Gay")
I believe that dictionaries have had be revised.

Refer to our caplamps, the upper end models have a battery indicator which is usually described as a "fuel gauge"!
I smell a conspiracy somewhere.......

Quite a lot of what people call batteries are in fact only cells.

At the same time Germany's CO2 emmissions are going up. Germany know the only way forward short term is coal. 10 new power stations will provide cheap electricity for the Germans.
