Derailments are weird things. I've derailed 2'0" gauge locos on invisible nothings. At other times when I've wanted to derail a loco for training purposes it has been nigh on impossible.
In twenty plus years of playing with choo choos I reckon that the vast majority of derailments happen on points and, nine times out of ten it is down to driver error.
