Thanks Mark,

As it was actually annotated I didn't bother checking, I'll shift it in a little while, there are a couple more that are also annotated Whiteheaps but they at least seem right as the incline and Sike Head chimney are also on them!

Hi
Are you sure its Groverake? as I was there yesterday and the photo fits the other shots of Whiteheaps on the site much better.

This latest picture uploaded of Whiteheaps (1986) was taken on the moors above Whiteheaps Mine which can be just seen at the left-hand side. Notice also the incline running up towards Sikehead Mine. The two chimneys are Sikehead, and the one at the end of the flue from the smelt mill.

Stublick is well away over the hills.

Yes, I'll have it - what is it?

Hi Simon,

I did think Stublick would be too far away, it was just that the chimneys did seem quite distant to be definitely Sike Head, I'l amend the caption in a while.

Do you know anything of Tyne Head Smelt Mill, John took two photos of the place but there doesn't seem to be any info available on AN, I've read through BM 48 but it doesn't have any drawings/photos.

Nicely sorted, Jim. Its a great pic!

Note the series Land Rover parked on the access road - looks very much like the vehicle in the BGS photo in Dunham - but then I guess they all do. Cant quite make out the car by No1 winder, could be a Mk1 Cavalier, they did make them in that dung colour.

The 2 blue minibuses parked near the electrical building - these look like USA school buses. Not that uncommon in the late 80's - I remember Bobby Iles had a yard full of them!

And also visible is the orange rock truck under the spar hopper - see Frazers Hush album for a good view of this truck.

In front of the minibuses there is a row of fence hurdles suggesting that the track to Frazers was not well-made at this time.

The spoil tip from the Firestone incline is enormous, dominating the yard. Must have taken a while to shift that lot!

All looks a bit different today! :(

Kind words Mark and another vote for JFM's snapping skills.

I did have a muddy brown Austin 1100, with a gearbox like stirring a porridge pan, if only I'd known colour could be that interesting:confused:

John and HMP took a few of Frazers Hush, probably towards the end of things and one of the drift a while after it had all shut down (not dated), again I'll upload them presently.

Meanwhile mad dog has just scuttled through to remind me it's past his scoff time, it's all work here.

the BL colour was "Harvest Gold" I think; there's still a tin of touch-up in the garage. Outlived Dad's Allegro by 40 years ::)

We used to call it "Pensioner Beige" ;D
