If anyone is interested I have uploaded some photographs to my personal album, all of an unknown location.

There were discovered while clearing out my Nans house, none of the family have any idea where or what they are.

Any ideas gratefully received.

There are some more but currently I have misplaced them.

[tweak]I've put them directly into the post for you[/tweak]

From the back of the photos that must be Williamson, West Virginia.

Wikipedia mentions there being many coal mines in the area.

Also a building made from Coal

Comparing the hieght of the people with the track gauge it would seem to be standard gauge (or thereabouts) laid with quite light rail.

If anone can identify the type (make) of battery loco that might give a clue to location. A long shot I know.

Overhead line/trolley locos aren't they?

Yes, sorry, senior moment. I saw the OH line then said battery for some unknown reason. :stupid:

No problem. There is such a thing as a batttery/trolley loco, but these appear not to have batteries at all. Hard to tell from the end-on shots.

And do other shots show a cable-worked incline? A flat wagon with a rope attached. Again angle of the shot doesn't really show the gradient.

Yes, there is definitely a cable visible in a couple of the photos. A strange optical illusion in the 5th shot makes it look as if the wagon is going uphill where as, judging by the position of cable and pose of the man on the wagon, that cannot be the case.

A house made of coal, that caught fire ? I bet no-one saw that coming 🙂
