I'd have no problem with a storage facility near me either, I grew up near Taunton so Hinckley Point is just down the road from me, there are just as many issues with an active station as there will be with this, what counts is favourable geology though just because the ground was good enough to build a power station on doesn't make it suitable for long term underground storage.
The problem with the council refusing this now is that it was the only site that had even reached that stage, the thing takes years and years to construct and if started now it will be ready in good time to meet our needs, this refusal will delay it again and we may be caught short, action needs to be taken soon one way or another
