Cathedral Quarry in "Snow White and the Huntsman" film in 2012

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone else has noticed that Cathedral Quarry, near Tilberthwaite, Lake District, was used as a shooting location in the 2012 film "Snow White and the Huntsman"? In the film Snow White, played by Kristen Stewart, walks through the quarry with the 7 dwarves and the Huntsman as they escape from the pursuing troops led by the brother of the evil queen Ravena, played by Charlize Theron. The footage is brief, but captures the beauty of the Quarry memorably.

Has anyone else seen this film, and recognised the location?

Yes noticed it straight away when watching the film on Sky a few weeks ago. But surprisingly can't quite remember seeing the large crystals the film shows in there, on the numerous times I have been!! Looked good though, who needs fancy studio sets with places like that within relatively easy access 🙂

I'm still angry at seeing the giant scorpion knocking rocks off the edge of that minor incline at Dinorwic in Clash of the Titans. The film crew should tale more care.

Yep I noticed it, where the dwarves are walking out of the mines and into the faery land place they're actually showing a different slate working as well which I believe to be part of the Sty Rigg workings in the woods at Tilberthwaite. Me and a mate went to that tiny working in 2012 and when we saw the film we joked "Hey girl from Twilight has been where we've been" and he looked at me not amused.
