We did a walk recently and located some filled shafts etc... your best help other than MRO is Farey which turned out quite accurate.

The newer sites and positions of adits and shafts are shown on the Coal Authority interactive viewer.

Some of the older shafts and workings - for the walk me and ICLOK did are based on Farey and Geology maps.

Also note the Farey survey can be read on the internet (google books) for free.

I am not sure if there is a recent book or paper for Belper Coal Mines or whether one is currently being written.

Records or history of mines etc are likely to be in family archives etc
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks
