Whilst at Danby Level in Arkengarthdale this w/end noticed that some of the arching very near the entrance is coming away. A section of wall is moving around like a jelly.

Is anyone in contact with people who caretake these mines? We're quite happy to help with labour or materials, but I suspect there may be more experienced locals.

On another note, there looks to have been industrial scale mineral prospecting much further in. A broken SDS drill bit found, and maybe 20 yds of the level look like a building site.

I don't think a debate about mineral collecting would be either rational or productive, but I just mention it so that any visitors aren't surprised.

dave Carlisle of earby mines/yoredale has been digging along with john green for many moons in danby,think they will be aware of repairs :thumbsup:
