I'll bag that date on the calendar before SWMBO does, also gives me time to dig my clogs out and put irons and hobnails on them, might see if I can borrow Whacker's bradda and tools as well....

Since Alderley is in Cheshire, you could do something cheesy? I'll eat most things provided they don't contain cucumbers or mayonnaise and I'm bringing Ted the Terrierist along, who will eat just about anything!

Thanks for the offer Sinker

I think- having spent at least 20 minutes pondering this- that it's going to have to be a fidget pie, it's not quite miner's food- but it was fed to farm workers so it's about as close as i can get. (How on earth we're going to warm that up again i have no idea- but we'll work something out!)

So, if you'd like to find something to go with that? Feel free to get creative and make a Bakewell Pudding (not a tart please!)
Or you could Undertake drinks? Tea? anything else?
Or the Entertainment?!

Any other offers from anyone else wanting to help out...?! :flowers:

Wouldn't prawn cocktail & Asti Spumante be more in keeping with the traditional local food & drink?

Warning - do not pick this dog up! You'll never get him off you again. He thinks human heads are cushions 😉

I'm quite happy to bring some proper miner's drink with me (i.e. ale) and maybe even share it, though unfortunately I won't be able to go down to Wirksworth and get some Owd Man Ale before the trip. I can also bring a couple of pewter pint tankards a half-pint leather tankard, and an authentic-looking tin whistle though whether people will find it entertaining is debateable! Then there's the fun of watching people being assaulted by the terrierist, as Phil's mentioned....

Food-wise, if it's going to be too torublesome to do a hot meal underground, we could be traditionalist again and go for bread, cheese and cold meats?

Fidget Pie should be fine cold. If people want to bring bread/cheese to go with it that's fine too!

I've had fidget pie and it's great. The pie I had was in a pastry case so it was like a pork pie, or maybe a pasty.

Well, I've got the bradda, some beer, and irons on the clogs so I'm all ready to go.

Question for anyone who's been up Carrock way recently and called in at Caldbeck - are the clog makers there still in business. They made my pair and if I ever need repairs, I think I'd prefer them rather than Walkleys to do them.

What did you forget? The fidgets ::)

I'm still not sure what a fidget is but they tasted very good, thanks Simon and Rockchick for cooking and Edd for the tour.
