Some of the basic data for seam analyses are often in the old geological memoirs, surveys & journals etc. For students the old geol soc papers etc are available for free through the Lyell Collection. The Coal Authority (mining records office) do have some old records of seam analyses but these may be hard to find and usually kept with some of the old borehole logs - some the old borehole log locations can be checked using the bgs geoindex system

I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks
