My main interest in mining and quarries are the associated narrow gauge railroads. I think "blondin" posted this photo on this site. Does the gray car still exist? I'm interested in getting some dimensions of this car.

The items in the photo are all at Penrhyn castle railway museum owned by the national trust near Bangor North Wales

yes,located in the stable block at penrhyn castle.the house is closed through the winter but you can still visit the stable block and grounds.chech with the national trust.they also have dinorwigs `fire Queen`locomotive wich is very much worth a look.see personal album.

This example has been heavily rebuilt, sadly. In a decrepid ex-quarry state, it would be much more interesting and have loads of character.

To check if it was originally Penrhyn, count the spokes on the wheels. If 7, almost certainly Penrhyn.

They were known as runner wagons or tenders. In the quarry, most locomotives had one behind them to carry essentials like coupling chains and oil cans.

If I knew how to attach a photo I'd be able to show you how they looked when in the quarry, all battered and worn.
