I expect some of you were involved in running an event for Heritage Open Days this weekend. How did it go? What was the mine or industrial site?

I was helping in Reigate at Barons' Cave - not a mine as such, but underground at least. And what a brilliant day. I don't know the exact figure but we had well over 500 visitors in 6 hours.

I hope to pop over to Brockham Limeworks and Hearthstone mine later today - short tours of the old limekilns and chalk pits as part of the HOD scheme.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
