I am so pleased to hear that. It must have been hell for Skippy while Scoot was missing.

Sorry to hear about the theft Pete, BTW where abouts did this occur as it may be an area not to park by, as per my Derbyshire expierence.

Just picked up on this one.

Excellent news to hear that the dog is back.

My sister had her Freelander stolen a couple of weeks back: they're replaceable, but a dog isn't.

That said, in both cases of Land Rover theft, I'd be happy to see the perpetrators strung up by the danglies :curse:

Really good to hear there's some good news, Was the dog 'free to defend the vehicle?' mine always is! with a warning to anyone silly enough to donate body-parts to Bobs' collection of trophy's, folk still think they'll be o.k.
Why do they think i leave the keys in the ignition? and Bob really close by!

I can vouch for that - Bob's very friendly if you meet him outside of Ric's van, but if he's in it and you step near, you are warned to back off in no uncertain terms.....

Re. Land Rover thefts:
I don't know if Derbyshire is a particularly bad area but a lot of Land Rovers disappear.
I have to be careful with this one - I took my Land Rover for an M.O.T. at a 4x4 specialist. The tester was probably correct, if a bit enthusiastic. A friend 'phoned later in the day and I told him where I had been and his immediate response was "put another lock on it". He knew of five Land Rovers which had been stolen in his area (one man lost two), from drives, with no broken glass and people had, rightly or wrongly, made connections.
Leaving the handbrake on only slows thieves briefly - they cut the cable.
Steering locks and peddle boxes help - try to make life as difficult as possible for the thieves. Big problem though - panels and parts will fit a range of Defenders (which have changed little over the years) aand then there is the "export market".

Glad to hear you got the dog back ok :)

A friend of mine lost his full challenge spec 90 from his unit not long ago. The police would not believe him that he hadnt left the keys in it and were being very awkward till he pointed out the fact that there was no clutch or gearbox in it when it was pinched!! I believe parts later appeared on ebay and at landrover shows on parts stands but proving it is always the hard part. Took him long enough to agree to pay out the agreed value on the insurance too even with a letter from them saying they would!

Hope you manage to get it sorted quickly 🙂

Hey - just logged back on now The Dog is back in one piece - thanks guys, for all the support. Much appreciated.
We think they are getting sloppy - West Mercia just sent enhanced images to West Mids - who apparently seem to know the guys involved - they seem to think its possble they can get them. The Dog was found in a dodgy location, having been looked after, quite creditably, by a bloke who the dog wardens think may be handling any stolen dogs for the gypos. It looks like we may be close to breaking quite a big ring of landrover thieving - but dont hold your breath yet...
In the meantime the Dog is lookin forward to getting back underground in a nice safe place...!

Thanks again guys - your support means a lot - it really does - those were some very dark days without Soot...

Take care all..

I wouldn't be holding my breath that the police were going to do anything effective about pikeys. They do as they please around here ( East Anglia ) with no visible interference.

They are reckoning without me. I told them if they didnt raid one site, I would. We got to the site just as the police came down the other road, sirens going - you have to kick them into action and threaten heaven and earth. It worked, we raided two sites and got the dog back. If I have to raid another 10 sites to break the bastards, I will - on my own if necessary. The police dont want to be shamed - they'll come.
