If we can get past Killhope Cross we should be fine.

It was totally fine yesterday, no issues at all.

Photo from a bit further up the hill than Rich.

Not snowing here on the coast (sleet, if anything), but I'd agree with Hymac, it's certainly the weather to be underground - so why am I stuck in an office?!

Harsh.
I'm on holiday and consequently stayed in bed till ten eating a box full of whisky liquors left over from Christmas, looking at mine plans and wondering whether I can face going into the garage to sort my filthy kit out for a trip tomorrow.

It's been snowing on & off all morning up here in the Pennines and we're just below the usual snow line, so my guess is that the A689 is a good place to do some gritter-spotting.

I'm wondering whether I can sneak out, even though i'm "working from home"

Considereing that there will be no-one at work to raise any actual problems for me to fix in the first place.

I have just come from Capel Curig over the pass to Llanberis.
It is a blizard from Capel as far as Nant Peris, the road is passible with care in low ratio. The section of road from Penygwryd to Pen y Pass has been well gritted.

Don't know why everyone is worried by a bit of snow in the UK. Cornish Pixie and I are on holiday in Norway, based at the Folldal Mine where it is -15C on a good day and -27C sometimes at night. Driving on snow and ice covered roads is normal in these conditions.

My friend James and I set off at 9.30 for Nenthead this morning, only to fail dramatically! The roads were not good all the way from Durham but when we finally reached the Killhope area, the snow was about 6 inches deep on the road and my poor Modeo started going backwards instead of forwards up
the hill.

It would have been impossible to get over Killhope Cross so we turned round and went to Harnisha Burn instead where conditions were bad but at least driveable, in a hair raising fashion. At least we got a trip out of the day πŸ™‚

I was just thinking that today actually, I was hoping that they made it, having gone such a long way. I guess they were going to Nent from the west so hopefully it was better for them than us!

Sadly not. Hartside Pass was completely blocked. We went somewhere else & got covered in slimy red mud instead.

Glad you got somewhere else Colonel. The road near Kilhope was crazy, in fact we couldnt see the road at certain points. I just wish it was springtime. ::)
