Boulby have started their own investment in Polyhalite, and will no doubt be well into production ahead of Sirius Minerals! :thumbup:

This is interesting, much more info on the proposed transport tunnel and 5 years quoted to build the mine at a cost of £1.4billion! :o

The NPA will probably be overuled on appeal if they reject the initial application, just like Scot Gold managed with the Trossacks National Park and their more visibly damaging Connonish Application. Sirius Minerals have too much money invested to just let it go, getting the £1.4bn funding to build it might be more of an issue though! 🙂

There are far too many mps on the board of this for it not to get the go ahead. Raising the funds won't be an issue either - the money is there if the return is there. That figure of £1.4 bn is well light - the figures in the feasibilty study are an initial consruction cost of £5bn with an annual profit of £1.8bn

As the Crown Estate will be doing quite nicely out of the deposits under the sea, then I assume that gives the project some high level support. Good luck to them.

As well as the National Park decision, another crucial milestone will be the DCO (Development Consent Order) for the harbour facility.

The link doesn't suggest that. One matter of concern, but a lot of positive comments about economic benefits.

Times article today comments that in the opinion of the planners, the possible economic benefits do not justify the probable damage to the National Park.
As has already been stated the planning appllcation will face it's next big hurdle when it goes before the park committee on June 30th.
Shares lost 15% as a direct result of this report.

Don't know whether this will affect the plans for Whitby and Boulby, but, a couple of day ago, Potash (Canada) offered 7 billion euros in a friendly takeover bid for K+S, Germany’s biggest potash mining and processing concern.

Looks like the market is hotting up.

I'm worried about the impact it will have on tourism. I'd hate to think I'd have to cope with more elbow-room in the National Park, with fewer Shopping-Car-driving wrinklies clogging up the Moor Road doing 45mph and rubbernecking whilst fumbling for the tin of travel sweets in the glove box. :curse:

Rant over. Gotta go finish installing the twin .303 Brownings behind the Landy grille :guns:
