Well, mine exploring oversuits, anyway!

After a weekend in which I got rather wet (mostly owing to my inability to pack a waterproof jacket!), I've been giving thought to getting hold of some sort of oversuit which is a bit more waterproof than a cotton boilersuit.

I don't have any desire whatsoever to wear a warmbac, but some sort of lightweight, waterproof version of a boilersuit would be what I'm thinking of.

What do people recommend?

Heh!

It's the mud I bring back with me that causes the nagging about the silt in the washing machine that's the root cause of the problem! 😉

If you wear anything too waterproof in anywhere like where you were at the weekend you'll end up wetter with sweat than you will from any water in the mine.

Certainly don't bother with the yellow plastic suits, I know from experience that they're crap.

Seems to be easiest just to accept that you're going to get a bit damp every now and then.

I've got a Beaver oversuit which I find quite useful on occasions.

It also doubles up as an endless source of juvenile jokes and innuendo.

I think you mean the Beaver oversuit from Bernies - there are two versions light and heavy duty

I've got one of the Beaver light weight jobs.
Great for wet muddy holes & unlike the Warmbac one you don't feel like you're wearing an all over stright jacket!
They are about 1/2 way between a boiler suit & caving suit.
As ttxela says you just have to put up with the "nice beaver" etc. comments 😉
Oh, & cleans with pressure washer in back garden, so no silt in SWMBOs washing machine ::)

::) Problem? I walk through the door, wipe my wellies on the hall carpet, waltz into the kitchen, chuck my clothes in a pile by the washing machine and get in the shower.
No fuss, no drama, no girly oversuit!

Merddinemrys bought a, reasonably inoccuous, all over blue thing recently. Can't remember where he got it, it's a bit bright, but now it's covered in mud it's not so bad 😉

I'm fairly sure it was a 'Mudlark' from Caving Supplies.

When is someone going to do a black suit? I have been trying for years to hold of one with no luck at all. Black cotton boilersuits are available, but these are quite unsuitable for the type of stuff I do.

If you check out the Beaver suits at Bernies they are about are at least 40% cheaper than these and you have the added bonus of trip to Ingleton calling next door at Inglesport to compare products and prices

I'm told these are pretty good (I'm contemplating replace my yellow PVC Meander with one of these at some point), and there's somewhere does them cheaper I think - I'll see if I can find the link when I get home....
