Much has been mentioned about trips for beginners, so just a reminder that on 5th & 6th, Saturday/Sunday the Derbyshire Caving Club are having an Open Day at the Alderley Edge Copper Mines. A great chance to experience an easy short trip underground.
Likewise the following weekend 12th is a national Heritage Weekend. The PDMHS are holding an Open Day at Magpie Mine, Nr Sheldon. This is above ground only.
The Shropshire Mines Trust are delaying their Heritage Weekend until the following weekend 19th & 20th at Snailbeach where there will be above and below ground tours.
I'll be at the Magpie Mine event and depending on weather conditions I hope to be demonstrating some aerial photography for anyone interested At the very least the kites and equipment will be on display. I'll also have the very latest gyroscopically controlled servos, gyros being now so small that they can be integrated into the servo circuitry within the housing. Hopefully I'll get them installed in a rig if I have enough time between now and then to build it. This allows pitch and roll of the rig to be automatically dampened, great for aerial video applications.
Any RC enthusiasts please note these servos are not suitable for controlling aircraft control surfaces as they rely on continuous angular/direction change. So if you were to do a rate 1 or 2 turn the aircraft would not respond as you might expect. I've only mentioned this so as to avoid any confusion.
