Although only loosely connected to mining this is still (IMHO) an interesting photo. It was found in the Gundry file held by the Mineral Point Historical Society, Wisconsin. The Gundry's were quite an emminent family in MP.
John Gundry emigrated to Wisconsin in 1849 and then joined the gold rush. He kept a diary for three years and the society have put it on their web site along with maps, etc, of the journey. Quite interesting. Backtracking the Gundry's were originally from Wendron so the connection to Carn Brea is a bit obscure.

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.
