There was a programe on BBC2 Wales earlier this week called 'Hidden Wales' where Cwmorthin was featured. I missed it myself but it can be seen on-

Thanks John, a nice bit of history on the place & some great views. I must get back there on a sunny day if thats possible!!
The lady mentioned the only way to get there was by 4X4!! Not good information, anyway whats wrong with walking up there? 😮

I nwas wondering. While in the Bleneau bookshop last September, ther was a coffee table book with photos of surface remains around Rhossyd. Was this by the same photographer featured in the programme?
Been injured while at work and are not to blame?

I saw this programme when it was on a few months ago, the photographer was male?
The book you refer to was compiled by a female wasn't it?

And the older man talking by the lake is the late Emrys Evans who wrote several books on slate mines and quarries and of the people that worked there.
He had a vast amount of knowlage of the slate industry.
