Hi all,

while trying to find information about the Leeds Fireclay Co./Farnley Forge/Farnley Iron Company, I chanced on this website with old maps.

It may be known to some of you, but it was a welcome surprise to me.

Particularly as I grew up just across the road from Sowden Pit (No.4) in New Farnley and our playground as kids was the shale spoil heaps (great for sledging and push bike scrambling.

Add to this that both my great-grandfathers and my granddad used to work at FIC/ LFCo in Farnley and my mum was born in the (sadly demolished) glazed brick lodge house on Whitehall Road, it's easy to see where my interest in the company began

The map site is great to browse around in and is one of the very few sources of info about the company's mine locations.
