I don't know the specifics re: the quarry episode - I just know its a very sad progression from the days when we used to go and bang around looking for calcite or fluorite in old abandoned quarries, to being taken to court for being in one.

I recently had a letter from tv licencing DEMANDING (the letter used this word) to know where the plasma screen was that I had bought on amazon, and why I had no license - if it was not at the delivery address they demanded to know where it was situated, together with a bullying letter threatening to interview me under caution if I did not immediately reveal the wheareabouts of the screen. I told them to p**s off.

We DO live in a police state populated by thugs - the question is not so much if, but when epople start to wake up and rebel against this erosion of personal freedom.

Skippy your comment re police state not quite true,

Apparently you you can wander round London with a plaque saying "Your 911 is coming" and throw bricks at the police, riot merrily, demand more than equal rites etc.....

but for gods sakes don't take a photo of a mine/ plane/ train/ public building/ policeman/ your own kids in the park/ any public event.... just in case it gets subverted for terrorist use....

The government in general advises:
Don't answer back, believe what you are told, drink only what you are told preferably at home, eat what you are told, recycle as you are told, don't smoke, don't drive, don't fly, don't question the economy/ parliament or the police, buy lots on credit, accept all cultures however they are at odds with society, and finally die preferably without being a drain on the NHS.... thats assuming you have anything to live on once you retire!!!

I agree with the dictatorship thing, In that case who do we vote for?.... the only option open to us as a democracy is what we are given in the hope they change things around to our advantage.... where is the 3rd, 4th options, ieven if it they existed would it have the balls to correct the PC cultural economic BS and would any new parties be allowed to happen anyway as under new legislation be quashed as anti establishment..... or classed as a terror threat, or anti cultural etc etc

The other option is a lot more radical and kills those it seeks to save as well as those that oppose.

Todays political dilema!

Indeed, "as you were", please. One of the things I really like about this website is the real lack of political debate (otherwise known as pointless argument). In that respect it is a delight to come here.

As soon as you state your political stance over something you potentially lose 50 percent of your friends. Then discuss religion, and lose another 50 percent. Down to 25 percent now. Then discuss football and you are down to 12.5 percent. As I only have three friends, there's a good chance I'll end up very lonely. 😞
