You can also buy the book (and others) from the author's web site (which is what I did). Jolly good they are too.

If you are in the area you can normally buy all of his books from Welsh Highland Railway (Porthmadog) bookshop and be helping a good cause in the process. They too do mail order. That bookshop is always worth a visit.

Ta for that - when checking out the site for the above post, I noticed another book I fancy.

By going to the shop and paying cash (I hope to be in the area in September) the Mrs won't notice it on the credit card bill.

In that case, another good place is the bookshop on the High Street in Blaenau. Opposite the carpet shop near the pedestrian lights. They always have a good stock of local IA related books, some that you can't get in many other places.

Ystwyth books in Aberystwyth has a very good selection of all things IA (or Welsh for that matter). Earlier this year the lady who owned it retired, a pity as she had a phenomenal knowledge of what was available in all sorts of fields. Occasionally I would pick up out of print books (which she had stocked from new and were still on the shelves) at the original price! I know all the stock she had was transferred over to the new owner, but I haven't been in since...

On a similar vein - has anyone been to the foyer of Plas Tan y Bwlch?

I have bought a couple of their publications at Llechwedd, and I have read that they sell a publication about rock cannon. Anyone know hether there is much to buy there?

I went there a few months ago under the impression they had a stock of books etc. The first person I spoke to there denied they sold anything! But directed me to ask someone else, I did and was pointed to a couple of shelves of books, and by that I mean like magazine shelves, I doubt there were a couple of dozen books. I think you can get the Rock Cannon book from the bookshop in Blaenau.

That sounds like it must be G.R. Jones's The Rock Cannon of Gwynedd, published in 2002. Fascinating book and subject (surprising where the cannon can be found - e.g. the Snowdon Mountain Railway's car park!), and surely a mischievous project in waiting for someone with a shotfirer's licence... I'm sure I saw the book still on sale in the WHR(P) shop at the weekend.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
