Surely only the Yanks could have thought of this. Radioactive Health Spas!! What a business opportunity in this neck of the woods. Pop down Crofty for a quick dip.

It certainly could be read that way. I rather liked the "poodle pen". Nice touch that. Give your pet a dose at the same time. ::) Certainly puts mine exploring in a new light. I'm trying to picture the Colonel in trumks accompanied by a Jack Russell........no I'm not going there

Radium treatment (in 1001 different ways for 1001 ailments) was all the rage in Europe at one time. And that was over and above other uses it was put to!!
Do you remember the portable x-ray machine that was stolen in S. America and the trail of havoc left by the ignorant dispersal of the radioactive source pellets? Kids had them on their birthday cakes because they glowed in the dark!
Makes a radon bath look quite passe!

Yes I have some vague memory of it, but radon baths passe! I don't know why but when talking about radioactive health spas the word oxymoron nips into my head. And of course years ago mercury was supposed to cure everything.
How was the trip today?

The trip was excellent, thank you, Carnkie.

I've lots of photographs but there doesn't seem to be a "Llanberis Museum" album!

Yes indeed but back on topic do you remember how radiation was "OK" in the 1950's and early 60's? Clarks shoe shops used to have x ray machines that gave the staff dangerous doses of radiation in a few weeks. But it was a different world then. Fags where good for you, asbestos was a wonder material and you couldn't get a day off school for anything less than bubonic plague or a royal wedding! :surrender: <-closest I could get to waving a flag.

I'm old enough to remember that...and more!
But not old enough to know where the Llanberis Slate Museum Album is on this site!
In the meantime I've put a few into my personal album.

Is there any danger from Radox Baths? I have one once a month whether I need it or not, and I don't want to come to any harm? Should I be concerned?

I'm not sure there is one. I've created Llanberis Museum. Hope it wasn't there already.
