Hi. I am looking for any official documentation or books written about Strontian mines, especially the latest mining project of the 1980's.Also, does anyone know of a local archiavist in the Sunart/Strontian area? Cheers

Hi paul,
The consulting geologist for the later reworking was K C Dunham and there is a folder with alot of his reports in the Durham Record office (Ref No. D/Dun 16/15
Strontian lead - zinc - barytes, Argyll, 1947, 1964, 1985, Laudale, 1980)

I have a copy of a video showing a guy drilling in the opencut and various bits of the plant working, PM me if you are interested in seeing it.

Cheers

Hi sparty_lea,
I am Paul's partner Lorraine.
I am an undergraduate doing research into Strontian mining with my main contact for Strontian being my partner who worked from day one at Strontian mine in the 80's. We plan to do a visit to Strontian over the next few weeks for a photo session. Paul lived and worked in Strontian for a number of years and still has contacts there. Though Paul will be my main vocal source for my thesis I was looking for written proof to back this up. My project will be archived at univerity for a number of years and I feel the recording of Strontian mining should be preserved because of the impact it made on peoples lives.
Thanks for that, yes I would very much like to see the vid but presently I am not able to access PM'sgs as I am a new member.
