I have come across a document from the 70's which is all about the ins and outs of sealed lead acid batteries - specifically Oldham cells, construction, upkeep, getting the most of them.........definite bed time reading?

But there is no document area for such things as far as I can see, could one be created for tech docs

Good idea Mr Mike. I'll add it tomorrow (hopefully) at the same time as a few other fixes (document upload to certain mines, problem reported). Will re-post here when sorted.

Hangingshaw Branch Level
Scaleburn Vein (Mine)

Many thanks.

Sometime ago I uploaded a diagram of Trevithicks Tramway Locomotive South Wales. I suppose strictly speaking this a technical document.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

I'm looking at adding Technical Documents now.

But at the back of my mind is the recollection somebody asked me for another new document classification as well? Did anybody? If so what was it again please? I've had such a list of tweaks and fixes I'm getting lost...

Well the facility to specify Technical Document when uploading now available; and a corresponding block in the Mining Document Library exists.

If there was another document type required that I've forgotten about then whoever requested it please just shout out.

Was it my "General Interest"
I have digitalised "Mining for Metals in Wales" 1962 ready to upload.

I honestly can't remember 😞 Did you request it? What sort of documents would go into General Interest (and wouldn't possibly already be covered by Other Documents & White Papers)?

It's been one of those weeks!

I may be being thick here, but how do you upload a tech doc without it referencing a mine album? As i can only find the upload link via an existing album, and then it will stick in that - is that right?

Hi

Same as all other document types.

It can go to an existing mine, if it's relevant to the mine

Or it can go to an existing album, if it's more relevant to the album (e.g. a trip report relevant to 1 specific album) rather than the mine itself

Or it can go to your Personal Files area if it's not really relevant to a mine in the database

Hope that helps.

I've a few documents that are about a group of mines or a mining district that aren't really technical more like Roy's 'General interest'. and a few bits and bobs like a newspaper account of a miner blowing up his lodger by drying his trousers in front of the fire with dynamite still in the pocket. Not 'technical or about a mine but quite interesting!

There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those that understand binary and those that do not!

Sorry, I have found the new General Interest but am unable to see what I do to upload a document to it?
