I wanted to cobble something together to round off the year for the web site, but mainly to extend very grateful thanks to absolutely everybody who has contributed to the web site over the past 12 months.

When the site was set up it was in response to requests for additional features on the original (very basic) site, and that's been the pattern since, original new features added in response to member demand which hopefully has resulted in a useful resource.

It's been absolutely fantastic watching the site grow and seeing the range and sheer quality of contributed photographs and documents from members and locations from all over the country.

A few people have asked for some up to date statistics, and so here they are, as of around 6pm today 31st December the site has:

Members: 587
Mines: 5,521
Albums: 11,599
Photos: 7,374
Votes: 533
Documents: 148
Dictionary / Lexicon entries: 172
Active discussion threads: 776
Pages: 39,546

Those are accurate figures minus duplications and deleted entries, so are the 'live' numbers. They're listed here not to big the site up, but rather to reinforce the fact that the site would be nothing without all the contributors uploading their photos and documents and taking the time to vote on photos and take part in online discussions. The fact that all this content has been contributed in only a little over 12 months is even more impressive.

Your time, effort and generosity in contributing to this site throughout 2007 has been, and continues to be, very much appreciated; by the site admins, by all the other members and by the thousands (literally) of people who visit the site every day.

A few specific thanks:

To the Regional Editors who maintain the Major Mining Regions

Barney (Midlands)
Clunk (SW)
Colonel Mustard (NW)
Ferret (SW)
Manicminer (N Wales)
sparty_lea (NE)

And to the following members who really have taken considerable time to contribute huge numbers of photographs and documents which all together form a fantastic resource for anybody who shares our hobbies of underground exploration, photography and IA:

royfellows
Colonel Mustard & Miss Scarlett
LeeW
sparty_lea
LAP
Barney
grahami
Mr Mike
Wyn
carnkie
ben88800
hymac580c
Manicminer

But as the opening paragraph said grateful thanks to absolutely everybody who has contributed to the site over the past 12 months.

Looking forward to 2008, to more explorations, meeting more people on more meets and of course to continuing to evolve and work on the web site.

Happy new year everybody!
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

I have just bought a new DSLR, so hopefully I shall be able to take some decent photos and upload them to the mines I've added. Good luck with 2008

It's much appreciated by all of us I'm sure. There would be no site without the webmaster!!

I'm sure it goes for all of us. The site management is great and greatly to be commended.

I like the way this site works and the way features have been added in response to members requests.

Please keep up the good work, and please don't have any "cosmetic" changes that affect it's usability!

And to all the other contributors - keep them coming.

Grahami
