just a thought. A feature of a couple of other forums I frequent (unrelated) is a a 'thanks' link next to the usual 'quote' and 'reply' mallarkey

I quite like that. (and the fact you users get a running total of how many times they've been thanked)

dunno what forum engine this one is so it might be a complete no brainers

They're likely to be off the shelf forums; phpBB, Simple Machines forums etc. etc.

Way back when I built the forum on AditNow I decided - and was encouraged - to build a forum from scratch. That way it integrated perfectly with the rest of the site and didn't appear as a "bolt on".

The downside is it's lacking in features. Polls, like/dislike buttons etc. Most of the off the shelf forums are maintained by teams of people. This site, just one coder.

I'm rebuilding sections of the site at present, so I'll look at adding this when I come to re-code sections of the forum. But it will be a long way off.

In my experience of forums, I found it doesn't get used all that much. That being said i'm only really on two forums, this and another.

The main thing I feel would that would be beneficial would be a poll system.
FILTH - Think this is a playground? Think again...

kinda figured it wasn't anything powered by the usual suspects
(mucho respect for that alone - espescially using .asp :ohmygod: )

It hardly a priority feature though, from this one man band to another....

stick it on the special 'do it tommorow' pile!

What's wrong with .NET? It' a nice elegant way to build sites that separates out the code from the display layer.

Polls, like/dislike and backslapping buttons is a road to cheap and tatty...I like this forum as is, I've said it before, a very professional layout with very good facilities.

I agree keep the site as it is.
We do not need "likes" and "Don't likes" and the other rubbish that some other sites have.

Ditto, I very much dislike 'like' buttons, I like this site as it is, though a 'go down' button would help navigation by mouse.

I just use keyboard short cuts for that:-

[Page Down]
[End]

or

[Page up]
[Home]

I find that easier and quicker than a mouse "Move and Click".

If I like, dislike or want to comment I can and do. I'm not convinced that more is needed and being thanked for advice/comment is more meaningful by using the words..:)
