For anyone who doesn't know AditNow has a webcam of Snowdon, it's under 'Fun Stuff' at the bottom of the links at the left had side of the page and is here: http://www.aditnow.co.uk/webcam/

It's the same here in the Peak District, we've got a covering of rather wet and sleety snow - times like this, you start thinking about being underground..... πŸ˜‰

It's even snowing here now and it's settling everywhere, be fun if it snows all night, but it's prob go before tomorrow morning.

Wonder if any one's got any tales of going underground and coming out to find themself stuck somewhere!!!!
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

I've had alot of trouble getting home a time or two after caving trips in the Yorkshire Dales. The most unpleasant experience on those lines though, was coming out of Tatham Wife Hole in a snowstorm. It was a complete whiteout and we were soaked to the skin. I had an oversuit on top of a lightweight wetsuit and by the time I got back to the car the zips on both were frozen solid and so were my fingers.

Felt even more sorry for my four mates who had an old series two landrover, the pair travelling in the back had a particularly chilly ride home.

Interesting point but from an historical point of view it has surely to be remembered that this caused many premature deaths to miners especially in Cornwall.
Exiting a deep hot mine after cilmbing hundreds of feet of ladders into wet, cold, etc didn't do much for their health. In fact many of them died very young, 😞

Once took eleven attempts to get a Range Rover up to a mine in the snow (there is a video around somewhere)
Lots of deep water in the mine, when I came out I needed help to get wet kit off, stood barefoot in 4 inches of snow and couldn't feel the difference from taking my boots off πŸ˜‰
And no, I dont feel the cold much as a rule!

Completely irrelevant but in a former life I was a meteorologist and was posted to the salisbury Plain in the winter of 1962/3. Turned out to be the snowiest and coldest on record. It was like the Antarctic. I have never beeen so cold.

Came out of Lefel Fawr at Pontrhydygroes once, to find the world had turned white...
Wish I'd looked at the forecast yesterday, I travelled up from Somerset last night, it was OK till the Black Mountains, unfortunately I was on a motorbike. :ohmygod:

Snow - call this snow ? I remember when it was so deep we had to cut slots to get to the school door..... (Must have been about 1962 I guess...) However snow at the quarries in the days of tramways etc was not fun... I've just uploaded three Caban images to the Oakeley archive of the 1951 snow. Enjoy...

Good picture at this time of night.

Maybe set up a MagnumStar next to it would be a good idea?

Do you know what?

I clicked on the link in the email notification and wondered if some *individual* was going to be complaining that it was just a black photograph at this time of night... there's always one!

Well, after that, I just had to go and look at the webcam image to see what darkness in Wales looks like. Answer - dark. Very dark! πŸ™‚
