Is it possible to edit the locations of mines once entered? I've just added Goodluck mine to the database and put the grid reference in, only to find that I got it wrong and google earth reckons it's somewhere North of Slayley Sough... :curse:
The correct grid ref is 269 565, not 269 575 as I'd input.

Cheers,
Adam

Yes, if you added the mine you can edit it's location etc.
If you list all the mines goto Good Luck mine and click on the edit then scroll down to the grid ref and change it.
Can't believe it wasn't already on the list 😮
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

I have changed it to 565.
Check it to see if it's in the right place
Gold is where you find it

Yep, that's where it should be, on the south side of the Via Gellia - thanks! Looking at the list, Slayley Sough isn't on it so I better add that to the database....
Cheers,
Adam

It should be, i added it sometime ago!, never mind! 😉

Can i also ask that when a mine is added to the database, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a box 'tag to region' The various regions will appear so its a simple case of selecting the correct one. In the Midlands region they are listed as counties, other areas are different.
Leaving this box empty does not show the mine in a county, and there are a few stray mines kicking around on the site and its difficult to know which ones are not tagged!
Thanks folks!

Barney, I think you've got different rights than us meer mortals, the only tags I get are major regions eg Midlands.

Slaley Sough isn't the same as the quarry - it's an adit driven from the North side of the Via Gellia to intersect E-W workings in the Southern part of Bonsall Moor. There's a long drive along what has to be the most completely barren vein in the Peak - you usually see the odd spot of galena in veins, but this one shows nothing but calcite for the entire drivage, so you have to wonder why they didn't give up earlier! I'll sort out a grid reference and add it to the database.

Thanks AR, that would be great.

If anybody does spot an error anywhere in the database, then post it up or PM one of the admins (simonrl, vanoord, barney) and we can sort out any issues.

OK, I've now got Slaley Sough on, although I had to edit the grid reference again as it was coming out in the middle of the A5012.... I've also added another Via Gellia mine, Merry Tom - this particular one has locked gates on it but the keys are held by the Wirksworth Mines Group. It does help preserve this one, as there are wooden rails still in place in the upper level which wouldn't survive the passage of careless feet, as well as some nice flowstone. There's also something else quite unusal in there - long slabs of stone stacked against a passage side, ready to be used as stemples - you often see the like overhead holding up lots of rock (or on the floor having got lazy....), but I've never seen them awaiting use like this. I have to also add the the roof is unstable in places, some smaller bits fell on me last time I was in there!
