I think sometimes that the cost of our great mining heritage is underplayed. Not for nothing was the rock drill known as the widow-maker. I've uploaded an article (apologies for the formatting) from the Journal of South African Studies.

My Welsh isn't too great I'm afraid, but dry lung I guess is in reference to the huge number of Welsh slate workers who suffered and lost their lives to silicosis.

It is "llidna" that has beat me! Can't find a translation for it.

Hi! Gwyn yma. I seem to be having a problem with the line timing out because I spend too long composing my missives. For llinda read llid na . Can you hear me, Mam! Thanks, Simon!

Can we start again please? Simon, thank you, problem identified. This system "times out" after about 20 minutes. How interesting! The correct phrase, my apologies, is "Hwy y pery llid na galar". I live in Bethesda. It resonates. Must move on lest this times out too.

Also consider the muscular/skeletal damage leading to "white finger" and Reynau's Syndrome etc etc . Look it up on the HSE interweb thing. The Korfmann saw was the mans' machine! Has anybody done a risk assessment on it! PUWER certification? Some complain of carpel syndrome!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
