The book arrived today and it is superb full of colour photographs mainly by Paul Deakin,but additional ones from several others including Ian Castledine, John Barnatt carefully details the many types of Mines and Underground Quarries whether stone or metal, . He looks at the various artefacts , structures and features in these places to detail archaeological interpretation . A lot of the areas are still accessible and are supported by superb photography. This book I suggest may lead to many more visitors to these magical realms. It would be nice to think similar books may be produced for other corners of the UK

It's a great read, long time in the making but well worth the wait.

I was disappointed to see that this book has been offered out to readers of Descent at a much reduced price, I got onto the suppliers and have now received a discount in order to match this the book is available from myself at £24.00 post free

It's a completely new edition using Trevor Ford's original information and edited by Tony Waltham and Noel Worley with updates and new information

It will be 80 pages, I have other information and will expand separately re that book

I think I recall a topic on this subject before, Cambridgeshire I think is almost devoid of underground workings, I am aware of one accessible site with short tunnels in chalk and I believe coprolites may have been dug from shafts,around Barrington but as far as i can tell no trace remains.
