I may be wrong, but I think these tubs were also from Redburn Mine...replace this line with your message...

Not being 100% sure what purpose these were for, I made an inspired guess, but I would welcome any informed description and will edit the text accordingly .

Hand filling!?!

or are these for long haul work between hoppers and the skip shaft??

I`m pretty sure they were used for long haul work, in fact in the early days at Redburn huge Haglund mine cars were used complete with converyor systems in each car ๐Ÿ™‚

The Weardale mines seem to have consumed some amount of expensive and up to date kit, where the heck did it all go?

and another thing, while grove and frazers were running why didnt they salvage gear from cambo, ? even the scrap value of that gear wouldve been more useful to the group than leaving it for thieves to line their pockets???

The big tubs were always filled from hoppers, in the early days of Redburn ,Alimack raise climbers were used, not very successfully. Beats me why nothing was salvaged, and as far as I can remember all concrete works were done in house so to speak. ๐Ÿ™‚
