This is to give advance notice of the launch of Devon Great Consols, Mine of Mines, on Friday, October 25th, from 11am - 2 pm. The launch will be held at The Book Stop, 3 Market Street, Tavistock PL19 0DA, phone no. 01822 617244.

Rick Stewart, the author, will be signing copies.

Prices are £42.99 hardback and £24.99 softback. I realise that the hardback is a bit expensive but this is a one-off publication, so get one while you can.

If the past works by this author are anything to go by, this will be a classic!

Job done - a good day was had. Sold a fair few books.

On a positive note I sold more books than Anne Widecombe did (the last person to do a book signing here).

I've got a nice shinny new signed copy and also got to meet some friends - new and old !
If it can't be grown it has to be mined.

As a followup to the previous posts - I have now finished reading my nice shiny copy. It is some read. For someone who thought that he knew a bit about the history of DGC, and having been underground there on a number of occassions etc etc, I found that there was so much more to learn. Hats off for an excellent piece of research. In the search for tin in the latter years why I never knew about the Dolcoath connection is beyond me, because it makes perfect sense. For those who know the mine and those who don't this book is to be highly recommended.

Hugely enjoying reading my copy too - superb research. Some of the former West Devon Mining and Power Company employees were associated with the later reworkings of DGC and I was priveleged to meet them in my younger years. I'm reading on and learning with each page turned.
Regards, Alec

Very kind of you to say so.

Hopefully the book will be on general release in the next week or so once Tormark (distributors) get copies from Short Run Press(printers) which is meant to be happening tommorrow. After that it should be available from all good book sellers and Mike.
