A conservation management plan is being prepared for nine structures on the Nenthead Mines site. The plan is commissioned by Cumbria County Council and is funded by Natural England.

The brief for the plan requires that the Archaeologist and the Architect provide heritage skills training in their professional work on this subject.

The provisional dates for this training are 19th and 20th October.

Information about the confirmed dates and the application process will be posted at www.nentheadmines.com and on this forum.

Ask if you want to know more.

Hi Pete,

There's something about that particular weekend.

It coincides with a conference organised by both the Yorkshire and Manchester Geological Societies in Buxton on 'Mineralization and Fluid Flow in the Peak District'; the Historical Metallurgy Society Annual Conference in Sheffield; the conference on ' Irish Industrial Landscapes and Heritage in a Global Context' at Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains and a visit I've organised to look at the engine house excavations at Pitchcroft, which we heard about at Aberystwyth.

It just shows that you can't do everything everywhere!!
