This years open weekend at Pleasley Pit will be on the 7th and
8th of September, admission is free and weather permitting
there will be a flyover on the Saturday.
Anyone who has not been, its well worth a visit just to see
the vast amount of work that has been done so far.
Take a camera, as there are lots of things to look at including
the Markham and Lilleshall winders, ok not steaming yet but
the Lilleshall turns over on electric and when the pistons get
back the Markham is well on the way to completion.

Open everyday I think now 10 til 1400...

While Pleasley is open most days between 10.30 and 16.00
the September open week is a bit more special with lots going
on and a flyover by the Lancaster or Dakota weather permitting.

Just caught up, thought it was 1400 and on open days don't they have additional memorabilia on display etc

They are in the process of taking on more staff and volunteers
to man the site,Sundays and thursdays are the best if you want to speak to the guys who worked down there.
The open day is a the one weekend in the year to showcase
the site not just the pit but the country park maintained by
locals, its also a big fundraiser to keep the work going on the
site.

With apologies to Iclok the opening times at the moment are
10.00 to 14.00 the thing I wanted to get over is that the
open day is more like a miners gala and just being there helps raise surport and hopefully some more money.
