Meet point is now going to be the lay-by near the Grinton Smelt Mill.

Don't attempt to drive through Swaledale due the marathon traffic, suggest coming from the Leyburn end of that road.

Given that we don't know how late Simon will be yet I wonder whether there might be merit at meeting in Leyburn where we can grab coffees & bacon buns?

It'll save him the worry of having to rely upon Landrover sat-navs to get him to a back road lay-by as well...

Easy enough for Levett & Dale to go straight there if they want.

Excellent planning Chris.....

Sorry for my poor showing on this, after 6 months of having no work to do, i'm currently commuting to Scunthorpe daily and having to learn lots and lots about something totally new to me very very quickly.

I owe Rich several pints for having a ring around today to sort the camping.

The only person who might have been coming to Sunday only isn't

So everyone staying over will have the freedom to recover from their hangovers at their leisure and the Sunday trip can be decided on the day

Should only effect Reeth on the morning by the looks of it, no conflict with anywhere we're going.

Due to the threat of extreme good weather, I shall be going over straight from work on Friday.

What's the plan for breakfast on Sunday folks? Does anyone know if there's a cafรฉ handy or should we be packing breakfast stuffs? Just thinking it's rather hot to have food sitting in a car all day- even in a cool box.

Pennygarth Cafe for a fry-up is pretty much mandatory.

Theres actually a coffee shop next to the pub, but I don't think it did breakfasts.

Thank you christwigg, RJV et al for another brilliant weekend. Great weather, great company, and some interesting holes in the ground (not all of them manmade ;)). I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the parts I didn't quite reach this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for coming, a fairly successful weekend considering the only casuality was one dislocated shoulder.

It would appear the only photos I took all weekend were of a toad on the surface, so we'll have to hope Simon got some good ones.

It was a long time since I had visited Wet Grooves so I had forgotten the free climb down the shaft was quite so intimidating in places. :surrender:

Hopefully the lovely weather meant those who didn't make it down to the bottom could still have a nice surface wander.

I think a return trip to Wet Grooves (Groves?) is called for sometime.

However, an excellent weekend with excellent weather in excellent mines in excellent company.

Simon owes me a huge favour for not taking the last Parmo left in the shop and having pizza instead.

The sacrifices I make for this website......
