Now then 🙂 I guess it's time to start thinking about some trips and meets for 2012.

Of the weekend / long weekends we've done over the past couple of years:

North Wales
North Wales long weekend / mini bash
Nenthead
Derbyshire
Mid Wales

What level of interest would there be in re-running?

Plus of course all the one day trips - which we've done to date almost all over the UK - ideas please?

One point raised to me a few weeks back. Almost all one day trips are Saturdays. Would it be worth varying with some on Saturdays and some Sundays to better suit people who work Saturdays?

How about venturing further afield? Further down South? Or even Europe?

All ideas and feedback welcomed! I don't want to plan the entire event calendar off my own back and get it all wrong

Anybody up for volunterring to lead a trip? (I know a lot of people did and helped massively last year - thank you all involved)

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Another Derbyshire trip without a doubt. Wales too and perhaps a full weekend in Brownley.

BH gets better the more you go. Honestly... 🙂

As for Derbyshire though, I'd be all for planning a weekend based around the same campsite again. We were unfortunate with the wind last time but the mixed grill at the pub was top rank and its the sort of hassle free campsite you need when there's a bunch of you with filthy gear. Not exactly a shortage of holes in the area either!

A few things to do on Mendip for those that are interested!

Derbyshire weekend sounds good. How about a Wiltshire weekend too :flowers:

There are the Nenthead meets organised by 'Mole' Hine, Easter, July and November. I will post the exact dates as soon as I have them.
This is bunkhouse or camping at High Plains and covers a period of over a week for each meet.

The Nenthead dates I've had from Mole are:

6th - 15th April
13th - 22nd July
19th - 28th October

Lakes, Derbyshire, Nent all good, and how about south wales or forest of dean areas for a change as well?

Other than Dinas Silica mine (and a lot of disused and un-enterable coal mines) I'm not aware of many mines in south Wales that can be entered. Is there a book? (Of course, if you want to go c****g there that's another matter entirely!)

Forest of Dean is well worth visiting for underground trips, as is Wiltshire.

I'll see about getting an Ecton visit organised, I can't promise this as part of the Derbyshire weekend as it would depend on Andy Tickle's availability but I'm sure we can sort something out, and with any luck the condemned ladder will have been replaced so we would do the Deep Ecton through trip....

There are three possibilities here:
1 Ty Gwyn mine (entrance near Llandudno pier). Easy short walkabout with a couple of short fixed ladders.
2 Penmorfa workings, accessed from the West Shore. No SRT necessary but cowstails useful in a couple of places.
3 Romans / Treweek's shafts, on top of the Orme. SRT trip with vertical shafts going down about 180ft

http://www.goes.org.uk/  and the last two need BCA insurance (a requirement of the land owner).

Romans / Treweek's shafts would be my preference.

I trust our resident GOES member (who suggested it above) would be able to organise such a trip.

I'd be very interested in an Ecton trip. Had a look around the surface there a few months ago and was disappointed to find gates on nearly everything!

Romans/Treweeks would be great!
Any thoughts about dates yet?
