This has been labelled as Whitecliff iron smelt mill. I suggest that we rename this place as "Whitecliff furnace" which I think would be a more appropriate title and is the title now in use to describe the site.

While I agree with you that Whitecliff Furnace is the name the structure is known locally the structure of the database gets messy by including Furnace in the title. I have however put in 'Whitecliff Furnace' as an alternative name and changed it from 'smelt mill' to 'smelter' (the closest the drop down menu offers for 'blast furnace'.

That is an improvement. When will the database be changed to accommodate the correct titles?

Hopefully Simon can oblige in adding categories to the database drop down menus. However this is an ongoing issue and the trick is striking a balance between strict accuracy and site usability. Perhaps we can live with 'smelter' instead of 'blast furnace'?
