A thought on a possibly improvement to the forums?

On another forum site as well as showing the posts it shows the number of replies to each post and the number of views of that post.
...................................Replies..........Views
example...Mines.................7.................32
..............Adits............. ...2.................20

It is sometimes helpful to the contributor to see the amount of visits/interest to a post as well as the number of replies.

Just a thought.

A good idea 🙂 In fact the site used to do it (reply count anyway, view count is a bit of a non-entity in my opinion 'cos it probably counts search engines).

It's fair to say there's a few features this forum lacks that are standard on others. Way back when I first built it I had a couple of people suggesting I build it from scratch rather than hack about an existing forum. I'm glad I did because it integrates so well with the site. But I still haven't got around to adding a few bits and bobs.

That said, I want to completely re-write the forum next year as a learning exercise in alll sorts of things like IIS7 ISAPI re-writing, LINQ and AJAX. It's a roll and roll life I tell you

IIS... Ugh, good luck, and rather you than me. AJAX is something I've been dipping my toes into, but it's way removed from anything I did in the Early/Mid 90's.

A scratch built forum is always better, as there's no need to hack the code to add something, you can usually just slot it in.
