A couple of people have complained that when they post a very long article (long in terms of time to write, not long in terms of number of words) to the forum it disappeared.

This doesn't indicate a problem with the site and you're welcome to post articles and responses as lengthy as you wish.

However all server based applications (such as this site) use session values in certain places and as server resources are not limitless, there is a limit of time for which any page will assume you are still connected to it. This was set to 60 minutes. I've increased it to 90 (the default incidentally is 20 on a Windows based server).

So to avoid frustration, if you think your forum posting, article or response is going to take more than an hour and a half to compose it might be worth writing it Word, Notepad or whatever and then pasting it into the forum posting box.

Other than that, if a message takes less than an hour and a half to write there will be no problems whatsoever!

In the near future I'll try to rewrite the forum posting page to remove the session values, at which point there will be no limit on the time to compose a message. This will be announced on the site updates forum in due course.

And there is absolutely no limit on the number of words in a post. You could pretty much post the entire works of Shakespere in one message if you wanted to...

Thanks,
Simon
