I've had a couple of reports from people that they're not receiving topic reply notifications.

Each member who has contributed to a thread should get one of these when the thread is replied to (regardless of how many replies there are) until their next visit.

It seems some internet providers are blocking them, I don't know why, there's no real reason for it, but it looks like I need to go through a whitelisting process with some providers.

Could anybody who isn't receiving these messages please reply here, and indicate their provider (e.g. Wanadoo, BT/Yahoo, Google Mail, AOL etc)? Please don't put your email address in the message since that is a good way of attracting junk mail to your address.

Sorry about this, I'm sure I can get to the bottom of it though.

Thanks,
Simon

in the last 18 hours, topic replies have began to drop into my inbox. For the last 2 or 3 weeks they have gone into my spam box. Thats with BT yahoo.

All seems well here!

Mine always seem to drop into both.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Yahoo seems to be putting some of the replies to my bulk folder but one made it to my inbox over the weekend.

Thanks Thorpey, I'm trying to sort it out with BT/Yahoo but they take an age to respond....

BT/Yahoo?Broadband or who ever you want them to be have systematically over the last week or so been tightening up their e-mail system. You now have to verify an e-mail address if like me you use another server for incoming mail and use your bt account to send mail.

This may have something to do with the problems.

Just log onto your account and select mail options then add the server to the list. An e-mail will be sent to your chosen address then you use this email to verify the address.
This guy has really got the bit between his teeth.

Thanks Peter. They are being a pain in the proverbial.

Although our (as in Bilberry hosting this and other client's sites) is that it's mail into their system they appear to be arbitrarily blocking as well 😞 This is despite having a well configured email server, well configured DNS, valid pointer record, an SPF record and no spamlist blacklistings.

Ho hum, in the old days it was just AOL that did wierd things with incoming email 😉

Thanks for the links though, they will come in incredibly useful for me to point my BT/Yahoo using clients to in order to say "see, it's not us"

BT used to be a good company. Then along came Mag the Bag and now we have this to contend with. There are now so many different BT's all billing each other for things no wonder stupid things like this occur. :offtopic:

Just testing!
Haven't noticed anything on AOL other than the excruciatingly slow start times and de-bug requests but, as ISP, no problems.....famous last wor...!

I still get them, but I am registered with a Hotmail account.
I only use the BT one for personal E-mails.

Hi Simon, I didn't get a Topic Notification Reply on this thread! I assume "my test" followed by Clunk's reply should have got me one, nothing! AOL. Cheers, Gwyn.

Unfortunately AOL have joined the ranks of blocking ISPs, I've applied for the whitelist process now. This is not a lot of fun 😞

AOL and AT&T / Bellsouth have accepted the AditNow server for their whitelists. Orange/Wandaoo and BT still to go. There's a pattern there, the US providers respond in a timely and professional manner and respond to the information being provided. The UK providers make it impossible to contact them and when you do manage it, they ignore you *sigh*

Anyhow, gist is, hopefully all system generated emails from the site will be flowing again in the near future.

AOL seem to have now switched on the above facility.
Thanks, Simon.
