This has been on the cards for some time (announced on here probably 6 weeks or more back) and is now completed.

Events & Meets Calendar

This is designed to list all upcoming events/meets in an easy to use chronological calendar format.

Events/meets are listed in chronological order, with the soonest shown first. Click an event to view the full details, and add yourself to the list of attendees.

The soonest 5 upcoming events are also listed on the main site home page; replacing the old latest 5 forum 'events' discussions.

As with all AditNow features, it is completely integrated into the site, no need to register separately for it; and upcoming events do not just appear on the home page and Events & Meets Calendar page; but also show on the mine home pages as well :)

When writing this module I never intended it to be for 'us' to arrange events but rather for explorers all over the country to arrange events between themselves. Hence the level of integration with the other site features. If you're browsing the site and see a mine or quarry of interest, and there are no events listed for it (see the top right of the mine or quarry home page) then why not set one up? Or throw it open for discussion in the events forum?

Adding Events

The facility to add an event is available to all AditNow members; and the process follows the same system of completing a single form. Plus if you've followed an 'add event' link from a mine or quarry home page then that location will be pre-selected for you.

When adding events they can either be open to all AditNow members, or by invite only. In the case of invite only, you'll be given a list of members to invite derived from your 'My Contacts' list (another new feature described in another post). All invited members will be sent an email.

For 'open to all' events, when a member confirms they wish to attend, all other confirmed members are sent an email.

Finally, the Events & Meets Calendar is fully integrated into the forum; so when you add a new event you can either tag it to an existing Events forum discussion, or have it create a new Events thread for you. All forum messages are shown down the right hand side of the full Event details page.

Trip Reports

Once an event you attended has passed, then a link to read trip reports will appear against your name in the 'attendee' list to post a trip report. This will create a posting in your Member Journal, or if you haven't got a Member Journal it'll create on for you and then create a posting.

For each attendee who has written a trip report in this way will have their trip report linked from the events details page.

I've transferred the details of upcoming events from forum postings, so a few members will find themselves with having added an event to the calendar :)

The security is the same for Events & Meets as it is across the rest of the site.

Clubs

If any clubs/club members want to use it in invite only mode for club events then please feel free to do so.
