As understand it the Zinc/lead mines in Greenland are becoming more viable due to the retreating ice-cap and the resulting surface being clear of ice and snow for a longer period of time.
Certainly the higher base metal prices will also help in the projects profitability.
I would have thought that mining would be on the now traditional trackless variety, as used eg a Tara Mine.
Here the system is to sink a dip, locate the orebodies using,diamond drill cores and plot the ore using 3D.computer graphics.
When the ore has been removed the stope entrance is bricked up and a mixture of cement and tailings pumped back
into it.
Much of the ore processing work,braking etc can be carried out underground and in the Artic this might be essential.
If memory serves me correct there is a similar Zn/Pb mine on one of the large Canadian Artic islands but I cannot remember which one!
