Interesting site. My brother and family have lived in New Zealand for many years and I went over about 20 years ago traveling around. You find a lot of interesting relics all over the place. I did find evidence of slate somewhere near the North of the South island. Not very good quality though.

Kawau is interesting because it's the story of the most travelled Cornish Pumping Engine. There is an article about it in the Trevithick Society Journal "Halfway Round the World and Back: The Most Travelled Cornish Puming Engine?" that I uploaded sometime back. I might scan it again for better quality.
