Hi all
Today was out with mother in Horton and noticed some interesting quarries near Horton. When up close these were obviously of a slate/shale sort - at least two of which were still in operation. The quarryfaces reminded me a bit of those at Penrhyn - though these were clearly making gravel using Mobile Crushing Plants - and not slabs. Nearby however was a disused quarry beside some old quarrymens' cottages (typical sort) with a traditional looking slate tip. This was presumably producing slab - as there was much slab in the tips and the nearby walls.

Can anyone shed to light some info on these quarries?

cheers
