A former coal mine which opened as a museum in 1983 has welcomed its three millionth visitor.

The museum was a working pit until 1980 and took on its present role three years later when miners became guides.

I did a stint of teacher training near the Severn Bridge, took a group of kids there. Epic trip, saw them around the back of the winding shed having a fag. The kids were stoked, the blokes were great and when I commented on my interest in geology, they were hugely knowledgable.

I noted the "so, you lot are from England?" I said, "No, I'm from Kernow" and was treated like a brother

Brilliant day out and a flagship mining museum.

Congrats to Peter and team at Blaenavon, a place I love to visit. It's always a really uplifting experience to go there and indeed, Wales in general!
