Hirwaun. Miners at Tower Colliery shower after their last shift yesterday. The last deep coalmine in Wales is closing-13 years after the pitmen bought it from their bosses-ending an industry that goes back more than 200 years.

Very unusual to see a Coal Mine closing because reserves have expired.... sad all the same, though.

120 in total going to Unity and Aberpergwm drift mines nearby as well as plans to redevelop the site.

I far as I'm concerned I can't get passed the first thought. When I think of the energy policy, or lack of one, of this country over the last 30 years I normally go into meltdown unless I've a bottle of single malt handy.
