Is this mine controlled access or is there explorable workings dotted about the site? Thinking of going for a look around

Main underground workings are locked. PM on the way with a contact.

The Guys at P.U.G. are a lovely lot, mind you'll need either a red or green insurance card to visit the underground stuff!

I presume Roy has given you Lionel, our access officer's contact details.

Otherwise, it's on our website at: www.parysmountain.co.uk.

If you haven't a BCA green or red insurance card, we have to make you a temporary member for insurance purposes (Anglesey Mining plc, the mine owners insist on insurance) for £10, valid 17 days so you could get a couple of trips in, BUT, we really only take people underground on our usual Wednesday evening meets.

It's mucky and damp in places - old boiler suit or caving oversuit recommended plus wellies and PVC or Nitrile gloves - the wet stuff is very acidic, around pH 2.5... If you haven't a belt and cows tails (there's at least one crossing of a false floor where we insist you clip on to a safety line), helmet and decent lamp, we can loan you these.

See you below...
