Been having a play with photogrammetry; wasn't hard to decide on the first buildings to try it out on!

First attempts, so far from perfect. Had to rush Rhosydd chapel a little since I was running out of batteries, hence a few missing patches of ground outside of the perimeter wall.

The original models are way sharper; uploading them seems to introduce some compression.

I found the Sketchfab viewer a bit cumbersome to start with; with a touchscreen it's really awkward, much easier with a mouse. With a wheel mouse the wheel zooms, or you can use Ctrl plus mouse to zoom in/out and Shift plus mouse to track around.

Will upload more models to the channel as I get chance to do them, and hopefully the quality will continue improving.

How much is this software? Really cool and the finished files are pretty damn good! Detailing is brilliant, can you load these into google earth to contribute to the 3D aspects?

These stills for these models were shot with a drone, but taking with a regular camera would be quite feasible if an object or structure wasn't very high and you could capture all angles.

Don't know, very much early days for me with this stuff. Do you know what file formats Google takes?

I think it's .gmz but i'm not 100% sure, i've used google sketchup pro a few times but i use a 3d modelling software called revit for work, at £10k per non expiring business license :blink:

Not at all bad for $179. Autodesk professional software is an horrendous price and even small businesses and practices balk at the price. I would like to know what I get for my $3,500 with this provider.

I'd guess you pay the $3500 to obtain licenses to distribute and use for anything other than personal or education purposes... autodesk offer a lite version of most products (as does google sketchup) which cost less (or free) but have features such as exporting to another file type disabled... pretty essential in my line of work, hence why the company has to fork out for the full non expiring standalone licenses... 250 computers here all have autodesk revit 2016, 2017 and 2018 installed... extortionate to say the least!

It's a bit different with Photoscan Standard vs Professional.
The standard edition is fully usable and with no restrictions on publishing and use including export to a number of file formats. Scaling, geo-referencing, coded targets, volumes, contour lines and export to certain files formats (gis/surveying) are some of the extras of the professional edition.

Basic 3d-models -> standard edition
Surveying -> professional edition
